Almost nobody would have imagined that the 50 glorious years that defined the IOT journey started with a young, frustrated electrical engineer having a bit too much to drink on New Year’s Eve. But that was exactly what transpired. While nursing a hangover on Jan 1, 1968, Dick Morley, remarkably, designed the world’s first Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), thus giving birth to the Internet of Things. The rest is history.
